Creative (and adorable) Save-the-Date…

I love when clients get creative and make their own save the dates, invitations decor etc..  2011 is shaping up to have the most creative, sweetest, and amazing clients ever and our newbies, Alix and Oliver, are no exception.  Take a peek at their save the dates that went out to family and friends this Valentine’s day.

Inspired by Dali

A few months ago I had the pleasure of meeting the talented and lovely Kristy Rice from Momental Designs at the Knot gala in New York City.  Her hand painted designs have been in some of the best wedding magazines and blogs and I was super psyched to meet her.

When I caught wind via Twitter (don’t you love how this happens?) that she was looking for Style Me Pretty, Little Black Book members to work on a styled shoot, I emailed her RIGHT AWAY! I had such a blast working with her and was so inspired by all her insights.  The shoot was inspired by Salvador Dali the famous Spanish surrealist from the 1930′s.  Sara and I traveled to Kristy’s home in Pennsylvania to work on the shoot.  Some amazing and creative people come together including John and Kim Sanderson from Sanderson Images, Lisa from Delicious Desserts , Maggie from Magpie Vintage and Danielle from Danielle Pasternak Events.

Although I can’t give too much away I thought I would share some behind the scene pics from Friday’s shoot:) I can’t wait to see it featured, everything was so gorgeous and unique.

Here John and Kim are, shooting some props and desserts that we set up…

A cake truffle sculpture yummm!

Stay tuned for more details!!!!

Love is….

There are so many wonderful people in my life that I adore, but I have to say that my Valentine this year (sorry Craig) was my sweet little boy:) Isn’t it crazy how babies change your life?!  It’s pretty amazing that no two other people in the whole world could have made him, he is a piece of Craig and I and I love that.  I hope your Valentine’s day was filled with love like mine….

(Luke 2 weeks old in 2004)

This week Sara and I are off to Pennsylvania to work on a styled shoot with Kristy Rice from Momental Designs. We are SO psyched to get off the Cape and do some traveling.  Stay tuned next week for some photo shoot teasers.

Pup Friendly Weddings by Sara Hamilton

Being an Event Planner and a dog lover people often ask me whether or not to include a special pet in their wedding festivities.  The best weddings and events have personal touches so I encourage couples to go for it!!!  Even if you don’t imagine your loyal pooch sitting proudly at the altar with you, here are a few ideas on how to create a dog friendly or inspired wedding.

If you choose to parade your pup along for the ceremony, assign a trusted member of the bridal party to be on lead duty, just in case.

Match your dog to the groomsmen’s ties with these Vineyard Vines collars from My Mascot (www.mymascot.com)

Ask your floral designer or a friend to create a decorative corsage.

If your dog doesn’t always listen but always finds treats (like mine) have your flower girl scatter small biscuits along the aisle instead of petals and save a few for a job well done.

Maybe you don’t want to subject your guests to your dog’s unpredictable antics but want some memorable keepsakes.  Having a mini portrait session with your dog is a great compromise.   Even if you don’t want to do this on the day-of your wedding, consider bringing your dog to the engagement photo session.

If Dogs at your reception won’t not go over well, then add a few elements to keep the theme consistent.

Use AKC Breeds as Table Names

Ask guests to donate to a local animal shelter in lieu of giving cash

Have your stationer create a thank you card for donations with a helpful pet-care tip

Maybe a lot of your guests are dog owners too.

Include a doggy dessert as a favor on your sweets table (just make sure it is clearly marked)

Listing pet- friendly accommodations on your wedding website and suggest a couple of nearby trails and beaches to check out is a nice touch

Lastly, don’t forget Fido on your registry. If you are moving to a new place or simply marking your first days as an official couple, add a few items to your registry.

The beds from BlueBlood (http://www.bluebloodliving.com/) look stylish and comfy

Warm Wishes!
